Wanted to call your attention to the Interpath viewer for the iPhone. This software application is available through the Apple AppStore and enabled full-featured viewing of whole-slide images for pathology on an iPhone. It communicates with Aperio's Spectrum system.

This is great. Not only is it a nice solution for many pathologists who wish to view digital slides on a handheld device, but it is a clear demonstration of the power of open architecture. Aperio publishes the interface specifications for our Spectrum system to enable third-parties like Room 4 to add on to our solutions. We didn't plan to have an iPhone viewer, but Room 4 saw a need and filled it, and we all benefit.

Cool proof of concept, but I'm on the fence about the practicality of it all...
